Comprehensive policy review of economic
                                                 ancillary land is necessary

As established, around 20% of GDP and employment in Hong Kong relies on the trading and
logistics industry, necessarily generating substantial demand for economic ancillary land. At present,
existing storage and distribution spaces are insufficient, and many of the time, unsuitable. With the
industry’s rapidly changing landscape, it is imperative to evaluate the demand for economic ancillary
                             land from the industry’s perspective.

Therefore, we call for a comprehensive review by the Government for the current
and future demand of economic ancillary land to support and facilitate the trading
                                and logistic sector.

This issue will touch upon various areas and fall within the remit of multiple
departments, including the Development Bureau, Commerce and Economic
Development Bureau, Transport and Housing Bureau etc.
Therefore, we recommend that the steering committee of this review should be
chaired by a senior Government official who can coordinate and receive inputs
from all relevant Government bureaux mentioned above.
